We stock Saft’s primary lithium batteries to provide quick service to our customer base. Saft is the industry leader in manufacturing these cells. They have three distinct technologies which are Lithium-Thionyl Chloride (Li-SOCl2), Lithium-Sulfur Dioxide (Li-SO2), and Lithium-Manganese Dioxide (Li-MnO2). These batteries are made with high quality cell construction out of Saft’s plant in France. These construction features include stainless steel or nickel-plated cans, laser welding & glass-to-metal seals, safety vents (for spiral designs), built-in fuses or PTC (for spiral design), and shutdown separators (for Li-MnO2).

There are 3 models of primary lithium batteries manufactured by Saft. They are:

  • LS/LSH – 3.6 V Lithium-Thionyl Chloride (Li-SOCl2) cells
  • LO/G – 2.8 V Lithium-Sulfur Dioxide (Li-SO2) cells
  • LM/M – 3.0 V Lithium-Manganese Dioxide (Li-MnO2) cells

Below is a list of the features for the Saft Primary Lithium batteries:

  • High and stable operating voltage: Above 3 V for LS/LSH cells and above 2 V for LO/G and LM/M cells
  • Wide range of current capabilities: A few microamperes base current to more than 10 A pulses for some LO/G and LM/M cells
  • Wide range of operating temperatures: – 60°C to + 85°C (+ 150°C for the LSH 20-150)
  • Long Shelf Life: Less than 1 % to maximum 3 % annual capacity loss in storage at + 20°C
  • Extended Operating Life: 5 -20 years depending on the application
  • High energy densities: 3-10 times greater than non-lithium systems
  • Excellent behavior in humid environments: Corrosion-free, hermetically-sealed cans
  • Safety: UL and IEC standards are met and are UN transport certified
