Meet the Team-Saul Montenegro, Supply Chain Sensei

What do you love most about your job?

What I enjoy the most is the balance between learning and contributing. Every day brings something new, whether it’s working with inventory, managing purchase orders, or coordinating logistics. I love being able to solve problems, create efficiencies, and see how the work we do impacts the bigger picture.

What inspired you to join the team at ABS?

I was inspired by ABS’s reputation as a family-driven company. Coming from a family business myself, I value traditions and principles that carry across generations, and I see those same values reflected here. It’s the right place to grow while contributing to something meaningful.

What most surprised you about working at ABS?

What surprised me the most was how welcoming and supportive the environment is. From day one, I felt part of a team that truly values collaboration and knowledge-sharing. Everyone is open to questions and ready to help, which creates a great atmosphere for learning and contributing.

What do you think sets you apart in your field?

What sets me apart is the combination of my international experience and supply chain training, which allows me to adapt quickly and see challenges from different perspectives. I also value teamwork and bring a positive, collaborative attitude to everything I do.

Tell us about a professional success story that you’re proud of.

I’m proud of completing my studies at Niagara College as an international student, while providing for my family. It was a challenge to adapt to a new culture and country, but that experience strengthened my resilience, responsibility, and perseverance, qualities that define me both personally and professionally.

What would your perfect weekend look like?

My perfect weekend would be spending quality time with my family, enjoying a good meal together, exploring new places, or just relaxing at home. It’s all about recharging and creating memories with the people who matter most.

Describe an interesting hobby or pastime that you have.

I enjoy staying active. I play soccer once a week with friends, I like to go to the gym regularly, and during the season I enjoy watching NFL games on Sundays. Sports are a big part of my life.

Who are some of your biggest influences?

My biggest influences have always been my family, who taught me responsibility and perseverance, and my professors at Niagara College, who encouraged me to grow and stay curious. I also admire some athletes for their discipline and resilience.

If you could pick any superpower, what would it be and why?

I would choose teleportation, so I could instantly visit my parents, brothers, cousins, and all my family and friends back home. Being far from them is one of the hardest parts of living abroad, and that superpower would let me stay close no matter the distance.

What’s your favourite type of food or cuisine?

I love Peruvian food, once you try it, it’s something you can’t take out of your heart. It reminds me of home and family traditions. I also enjoy Japanese cuisine, especially the balance of flavors and freshness it brings.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?

I would love to go back to Punta Cana. The beaches are beautiful, and it would be amazing to enjoy that experience again with my family, especially seeing how much the kids love it. And of course, I wouldn’t complain about the sunshine either.
